Duke Heart

The Heart Step-Down Units provide care for adult patients who require less monitoring than Intensive Care patients, but more monitoring than routine floor patients. The medicine areas care for complex patients with diagnoses such as acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and dysrhythmias. They also care for pre/post procedure patients including but not limited to cardioversions, cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, and device implants. The surgical areas care for complex pre/post cardiothoracic surgery patients including but not limited to coronary artery bypass grafts, heart valve repair and replacements, aortic and aneurysm repairs, wedge resections, lobectomies, pneumonectomies, heart transplants, lung transplants, and ventricular assist devices. If you would like to join a high functioning, positive, and welcoming team dedicated to providing high-quality care, please consider joining us!

To be considered, we require a current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina and one year of cardiothoracic/cardiology experience.
